Searching for Pilot Father
I am hoping that maybe I can find some information that can assist me on the hunt for my fiance's birth father.
My fiance, Tim, was in a very serious accident and suffered irreparable brain damage to the left side of his brain in December. Almost two years prior he had found out from his mother that the man he was raised to believe was his father indeed was not. His "father" also found out this horrible truth, 39 years later.
With the craziness that surrounds the medical visits and rehab, time and time again, Tim is asked about his family medical history. He is a proud man with a strong desire to learn about his true family and their history. A legacy means a lot to him and he feels he needs this information as much as his two sons need to know "Dad, what are we?"
Tim's mother was a stewardess for National Airlines, based in Miami. She was there from roughly 1968-1971. She claims that on a flight from Miami to New York in April of 71' she left the airport with the flight staff to party (and possibly have a last hoorah as she was ending her career with the airlines). She said the crew hit the town and then a hotel, she had too much to drink and ended up with the co-pilot from that flight.
Her name was Gwendolyn (Gwen) Monroe (she possibly went by Demers) she was around 22 years old, blond hair, did modeling on the side and possibly mentioned that she had given a baby up for adoption in 1968 before joining the airlines.
We are not looking for someone to "take us on" we don't want anything but information... no money, no inheritance, no problems. We just want information for Tim to have some closure. As a father of three, he would love to know there was possibly another child out there starving to know him and his family.
If anyone has any information please feel free to post or message. I can provide a picture of Gwen in her National Airlines pink uniform with Tiger coat if that would help jog a memory of a fun night many years ago. Or maybe someone would know who she was with... here's to hoping.

I wish I could help. Alas, that pilot will be long retired, and we don't have that many retirees active here.
The best way to find him might be to research and look for the supervisors (chief pilot(s)) at the time. There may be an informal association of retirees from that airline. It'll take some deep digging.
Good luck!

Thanks so much for all the views and the few replies. I know it will be a needle in a haystack but I have to try. I have tried some of the alumi associations out there for both general aviation and NA but no one wants to even reply.
I'll keep hunting since his mother cannot seem to remember much after the drink. LOL. Not to mention I am sure she had trouble keeping her affairs in order... too many details to hide and now recall some 40 years later. We get it, it was the 70's not to mention a glorious time to be in that career but damn, we are talking about a man's father.
More than that, what if this man always wanted a child and never could find "the one", what if he did but she couldn't bear children or worse, she or the child died. This may be the long lost child this man hoped for. And that is what I hold on to... Sorry to be the buzz kill

Well the above link only got me a responce that I should find a different place to air out my family business and that it would be bad publicity for the organization. Since it is a private newletter for members I don't know where the publicity factor is, but I understand that they don't want to be responcible for saying that anything goes in the 70s.
However I appreshiate the suggestion and I don't mind the rejection, well... as of yet And the hunt continues. Thanks again everyone!

Here's what I would try. I did a quick search for national airlines pilot contract and came up with nothing. Sometimes pilot contracts have all the pilots names listed in them. National was purchased by Pam Am in 1980 so he could be in there but it would be a larger group to search through. You can down load /search the faa airman data base and then may be able to sort it by type rating but he would of had to of been a captain back then.. I would watch eBay for a contract or seniority list. If national was union (Alpa) they may have one on record. Good luck in your search

You guys are the best. What a great group of warm wishers on this site. I really appreshiate all the help and leads. I especially appreshiate you letting me "lerk" on your board, although I do abide by all the rules and am on my best behavior I will start watching ebay.
I'll post from time to time to keep this post active as I continue. My guy has a lot of pride and I will make sure I keep helping on his hunt (a wife's duty is to honor her husband)
Happy Labor Day to all you guys! Let's see if the old times work on the ol' momish-in-law... maybe the drink will help her loosen up tomorrow... bring back some memories

The only contact I see is the 'NationalSundowners.com'. It's for former employees, but since his Mom was one, that should be an in.
I'd also try to find some flight attendants(stewardess back then) who may of knew his Mom. Maybe there is an admin type in the group who has an angle on getting pilots names of that time.
Just to start off with 'all the Tim's' would be a great way to make progress. If she could remember the type of plane she was on for the trip that would narrow it down more.
Not to try to waste your $$$, but there are tracking services available too. They know how to track people down, supposed to anyway.
Best of luck
