I am a long time fan of Ayn Rand and Objectivism. When I was hired at Atlas, it just seemed fitting.
Our founder saw the statue of Atlas at Rockefeller Center and chose it for our livery because he liked the way it looked.

Wow I gotta come run on your guys' layouts ! I don't have any layout or track currently, just a decent amount of locomotives and rolling stock. Since I didn't have much of a layout I enjoyed weathering and adjusting couplers and wheels to NMRA standards. I haven't bought much lately as it has become about twice the cost as it was 5-10 years ago when I bought the majority of my kit.
Concrete ties, ey ? From what I understand the only product with concrete ties is flex track from Atlas and Peco. If I ever get to build my dream layout of the Philadelphia portion of the NEC, I will be laying down 4 tracks wide of concrete ties with full catenary. That is a while down the road though as that is a retirement project. Hopefully you will be able to RR with your son Clamp, that is a great hobby to do with your parents or grandparents. My grandfather and I used to run on a 4x8 we had built in his garage before his health kept him from spending too long in the non climate controlled heat locker. Clamp was called for the throttles in TO position, yes ?

I too had great memories with model trains growing up... hence when I finally had the space and the money, I went for it.
CLMP (Control lockout motor paused IIRC), verbalized as "Clamp," is a douglas thing that is the same function as Throttle Hold or Hold on a boeing. The autothrottle system runs the engines up to the takeoff power setting, and then it goes into CLMP by around 60 knots, which was verified on the 80 knot high speed/low speed regime crosscheck.
