Zimmerman is not guilty!!!

The simple truth is that minority groups do not want to take responsibility for any behavior that would show that their plan is not working.
It is easy for the black population to say that this was racist because they would not have to consider that maybe it was bad parenting.
It makes me laugh when I see protesters holding signs that say "We are all Trayvon". REALLY??? We all have pot in our system and have been expelled from schools??
That is an insult to everyone and every race!
Liberals stance on this case is simple, they do not think anyone should be responsible for their own decision making and suffer consequences for their actions. They always have to be victims. In one way the are correct, we are all victims of our own decisions.
Either way, justice was served. Oh btw, why did "black America" not protest when OJ was found not guilty?? Instead they were cheering.

That aside,
- AZ & Jungle, well thought out, sensible, rational thoughts. How dare you try to use facts and reason as a basis for your stance?
- I don't know why I'm surprised, but I'm continuously disappointed by the POTUS
- Snarge, ...wow...

I'm guessing Trevon was absent the day they showed this safety video at his high school...

I got it. The 2nd Amend, unlike other countries allows ownership. And you choose that option. But you fashion yourself as one of the good guys. Like many owners, who thought of themselves right before the accident or the poor judgement.
So you choose gun ownership instead of say... HD motorcycles... you know these guys.. and gals.. they wear the T-shirts (if you can read this the b*** fell off), leather vests, have get-togethers and rides to BBQ locales....
I mean you have to do something with your time. Other guys fly RC airplanes... or golf. Or both...
Because my point is... you don't have to carry and own guns. It's a choice as you say... not a need, like breathing or eating.
of course you live in fear. Why else would you carry a gun? And you've convinced yourself that by carrying a gun you are not fearful. You are the opposite... facing your fears, ready to handle conflict and evil-doers. You are determined to protect yourself and not be a loser in a conflict. You will stand your ground.
I am more worried about being shot by some gun nut job than by a poor class punk. I just don't trust you people.... So you are saying 66% of people live their lives without guns. How can 2/3 of the people live their lives happily and fearless without guns, but you feel the need to carry everyday? This is the bottom line of the discussion. What has a happened in your head, like many others, that compel you to own? Whereas a majority, 2/3 do not.
Yet 2/3 of us, don't carry or own. For discussion, say guns were illegal. What else could you do to take responsibility for yourself. Because the gun is the last line of defense and many gun owners use it as their first and last....
Suddenly you don't care... and that is the big problem... you should care.. because when Bubba runs down to Wally World to get a Xbox and a gun, and ends up shooting his kid on 'accident' .... that isn't you... but it is you... you are a part of the culture.... you want the ease of access to buy weapons and ammo.... don't infringe on that right you say.... but that same ease of access allows idiots to buy guns because its cool or some kind of culture.... "Hey Bubba, ya gonna get ya gun like me?" Is no different than ... "Hey Bob, get a Harley, our group enjoys riding"
You've just chosen to occupy your time with guns. It is an ego and a "I belong to a group" thing. We all do it.... It feels good.... just like riding HDs for others. But it also placates your politics... that there are bad people in this world... that can do you and your family harm... and you've told yourself you are a good guy....
The problem is you got guys like GZ with no real training, maybe immature, with a gun and an attitude.... and the only way society knows the difference between GZ and you, is we have to wait for a conflict to happen. Next up in Florida: A white man named Michael Dunn shot and killed an unarmed black teenager named Jordan Davis. This classic again... Dunn had conditioned attitudes that he acted on. Most people would just ignore the music. So how do you know that you won't act the same? Another hard question... you don't.
So how much training do you have? And how often do you go to re-current... I am sure you spend lots of time staying proficient (time I'd rather spend with my kids. "Mom, why is daddy always going to the range? Can't he spend time with me?"
SYG... even the name is conditioning. Stand Your Ground. Don't give up, don't back down. It's like the ACA... Affordable Care Act. (Obama Care). Is it really affordable? It will cost millions more... but hey Affordable sounds good. F117 Fighter. It's a bomber, but fighter sounds good.
Recall Wayne: The only thing to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy. So.... T. Martin should have had a gun? What happens when there are two guys like yourself, both believing they are good guys, get sideways? What if one is black and looks like a punk, but isn't?
How much do you spend on your pastime? Some guys golf, others ride HDs, others fly R/C planes.... its big bucks.... and it all goes back to profits...
Of course you don't want to think that... gun owners think of themselves as good ol 'mericans, exercising freedom, and defending their property and land against evil doers (fellow Americans actually. So there are good Americans and bad Americans.) I mean the break in fantasy is classic... do you really think you are going to wake from sleep at 2am, in the dark, get your weapon, adjust your vision to the dark, or sudden bright light, properly ID a target and not shoot your family? Of course you do... why? Cause you are you! You're a good guy and gun owners always win their break in fantasies....
Back to it.... 2/3 of the population live their lives without guns. Fearless, they shop, work, eat, sleep, repeat. Without guns. With a little head work... you could to.
over 6000 since Newtown. But that is not you... you're not apart of THAT gun culture... you're a good guy.

A little background about my experience. I've lived next to Camden, New Jersey for 8 years, a city which consistently ranked as having the highest crime rate or was in the top three. During those 8 years (while in the military), I had a home burglary and had a lot of property stolen. Also, I had a cracked out lady walk into my home at night through the kitchen door which is my primary entrance (my fault for forgetting to lock the door behind -- something to which I always did) and it ended with me literally rounding a corner and bumping into her, a physical altercation ensued as she tried to get around me and run further into my home, and then me getting the upper hand and throwing her ten feet out the kitchen door into the car port ... yes she was injured and I didn't give a rats you know what. I immediately dialed 911 and it took the police at least 20 minutes to get there because my township didn't have their own police department and the city less than a mile away wouldn't respond so we had to rely on the New Jersey State Police. This is NJ, the most densely populated state in the country! And this taught me a very good lesson, the police can't always protect. Thank God she was just a crack ***** and not something more sinister.
So I moved to the country near Oley, PA where I shacked up with a girlfriend who lived in a luxury home development with each house sitting on a minimum of 5 acres. One day her car was broken into but nothing was stolen (that we know of), nor did we see anything. One night, I had my truck broken into and items were stolen. Worse, we had her house broken into THREE times when nobody was home -- each time she came home and realized a crime had been committed once inside (they gained entry through a side or back door) and she literally freaked out because she didn't know if the perpetrators were still in the house/area. I'll never forget taking those phone calls/voice messages while I was away for work. We installed a home security system after the first break-in and it didn't prevent, stop, or help solve the break-ins. My only regret was that we didn't install hidden cameras to help capture the crime on video. The police dusted for finger prints and came up with nothing. It is amazing how fast good criminals can take A LOT of stuff and nobody sees a thing. Several other houses in the development have been broken into -- all of them unsolved. These are $750,000 and up homes and the police patrol frequently. Yet, criminals still find a way to pull these things off. After all dealing with the police about all of this stuff, we learned how home invasions were on the rise. Several people have been murdered in their homes.
While in B757/767 training in ATL staying in the airline approved hotel, a drug deal went bad in the back lot and two black Americans were shot and killed roughly 20 feet from my hotel room window. I am convinced during that night as I was leaving the hotel room (which is why I didn't hear the shots), that I saw the shooter as he frantically left the seen on a bicycle as I was driving past in my pickup truck. I'll never forget the look on that guys face. I'll never forget that feeling of not feeling safe in a hotel room when there's all kinds of people and cameras around, including parking lot security officers!
Since then, I've worked/lived in NYC, DTW, and MEM. I've seen the good and the very very bad all those cities have to offer. So yeah, maybe you might say I am scared. The truth is I am not. I know that if someone tries to commit a violent crime against me, my family, or friends, I have one last effort to protect myself/them. I'm not stupid. I'm not crazy. I know how to and when I can legally discharge a weapon. I understand SYG laws were developed because courts were locking up legally justified shooters insisting that they should have "fled the seen" when they had no opportunity to or when many people were killed trying to do just that. Absolutely crazy!
I hope you never experienced the things I have. Scratch that, I hope your wife or kids never do. You/they will never understand the loss of safety you feel after having strangers in your home, stealing your possessions, ransacking the entire house all within minutes and never being seen or caught. Or the feeling of someone breaking into your truck while you're sleeping, walking around the house only a few feet away, probably looking in your windows, and you didn't know it was happening. It's creepy as hell. I assure you, it will change you.
I wish we could all live in Mayberry, but we don't. Even when we live in a upscale and effluent area [safe] area, we really are no safer than some of the poorest areas in America. The cops can not always protect you. In fact, in many of these home evasions or burglaries with violent outcomes, the police do not protect you. Sometimes you only have a few minutes and the people who tend to survive these things are the ones able to defend themselves.
I've always said I don't care if someone breaks into my home and steals stuff while we're gone. Stuff can be replaced as that's what insurance is for. But the lack of security you feel afterwards can't be replaced, gun or no gun.
I just know now if anyone breaks into my home, or if anyone tries to commit deadly bodily harm to myself, family, or friends, I can and will protect myself/them with a weapon. Having it doesn't consume my life. It isn't a game or hobby like you so ludicrously compared it to biker life.
I was going to post a couple of murders caught of 911 calls by family members victimized by burglars, but now I find those tapes very disturbing after being through what I have been and I no longer wish to listen to them.
But I will post this one as it has a good outcome. It still makes me want to cry every time I hear her plead and scream. She had filed restraining orders on this man, gone to the police multiple times. She lived in a small town and still the police couldn't protect her. How did she save her life? A friend gave her a gun that day. She is so lucky.

I am pro 2nd Amendment, have a NRA Life Membership, own multiple guns, have a CCW permit, was taught by my father (a police officer) at the age of 10 how to handle weapons/hunt/etc.etc., and by the military, and have taken the proper classes necessary in my state to conceal carry in 33 states (and rising). My state runs a monthly background check to ensure I remain in good standing/mental health or they come for the CCW and possibly my weapons (I'm ok with that).
