Agreed, anyone who stands up for the TSA needs their head examined. All I see is a bunch of knuckle head government workers...kind of like Congress!

Biggest waste of money....Let the airlines police themselves...they can discriminate and let whoever they want through. Of course they'll out source it to the lowest bidder.

I assume that they are all FERS employees and and I am not familiar with a part of the retirmeent plan that allows for this.
Benefits | Transportation Security Administration

Maybe they are included with the same retirement that federal cops and firefighters get (and somehow congressional staffers were included).

That list shows what most gov't employees get and I see the list includes defined pension plan - which would be FERS. There are no CRSRs in the TSA - in the sense that the TSA was created long after CRSR was changed to FERS. I guess there could be people from CSRS that went over to TSA - but that is beyond the scope of the question here.

When I looked (briefly) through the FERS website I still saw nothing about a 2 year defined pension plan.

Did the link you provided have another link that you were trying to point out?

NOT defending TSA at all, although the ones in smaller cities/airports are expotentially better and more professional than those in major cities. Not sure about the PHL guy arrested for kiddie porn, but he can't possibly have topped the Colgan pilot who had the largest amount of kiddie porn EVER (up until that point anyway) in Pennsylvania.

When I said maybe that implies I don't know. Based on your post I still don't know what the TSA retirement is. But there are defined benefit plans for Federal LEO's, Firefighters, Controllers and Congressional staffers. I believe it is 1.7% X YOS X High 3. Whether or not TSA "agents" are considered LEOs by some idiots in Congress would not surprise me either way.

I agree they are unlikely to be vested at 2 years TOS.
