Unmanned aircraft struggle to shed 'drone' image | www.ajc.com
It is amazing the importance that some people attach to a mere name?
*Regular* people aside - are there any aviation industry experience people out there who are *SCARED* of the name drone?
RPA, UAV, UAS, UCAV, UCAS, Drone, RPV.....
Few have specific meanings, others are just a flavor of the day.
All just my opinion of course

That's exactly the perception problem that many people have with things flying around without a "butt in the seat".
The cruise missile is a great example of an autonomous vehicle that can take off, navigate, and complete a mission without human interaction. Of course there are autonomous vehicles that can land at the end of a mission instead of exploding. The idea of programing a mission completion standard, then providing the hardware with enough artificial intelligence to find the optimum solution in a dynamic environment without human intervention is the wave of the future!
Then there's the mind-numbing video game thing the Air Force does.
