Another thing to consider is that in socal it cost $100-$300 a month to store an RV and many HOAs/cities don't allow them to be parked at the house or on the street. Free parking at the airport.

Are you kidding? These guys have their Vets or Benz parked out front. This is such a good deal, you guys have no idea. Storage for RV's is crazy expensive and these guys get to do it for $30/mo!

You gotta take the employee bus around the lot and see for yourself. This isn't a ding against our profession, just another perk they take full advantage of.

For Some Pilots, Home Is An LAX Parking Lot : NPR

Aircrew Buzz: Alternative to the crash pad: Crews living in LAX parking lot

I'm sure if you google some key words, you can find all sorts of pictures. Wasn't uncommon to be on final over the lot and see them all with awnings pulled out and grills fired up.

Also notice the dates on the links above. The story isn't ANYTHING new.

From my 18 months in LAX, the crashpads there were way more expensive than ORD, EWR, LGA, BOS, IAD, CVG, or IAH. Also, many were hot-bed types just to keep the prices semi reasonable.
