cool video
These fellas did a great job putting this together. My favorite part is about 80% through with the landing DC3. Great stuff http://www.onesixright.com/video/aerials.html

How did they film that?
I really do not know much about planes. I stumbled onto this website from www.mamboserver.com. What I would like to know is how do they film those sequences shown on the film. Some of the shots appear impossible to take. One shot appears that the filming platform is completely static (not moving) while high over the land when a plane passes by. How could that have been filmed? Can a helicopter even go that high? Even with a helicopter, how did they got that shot so stable?Another question is how were they able to take so many clips they appear to be so close to the airplane they are filming especially when the plane was landing. I mean they are practicaly 10 feet from the plane as it is landing...
Thanks in advance for answering my question.

The shots are amazing, but there is an easy answer! They were taken from a chase helicopter with a gyro stablized camera. On some of the landing sequences they were flying formation, but the use of a zoom lens made it look like the helo was a bit closer than it really was.
All the Best!

Thank you for the info...
Thank you for getting that info too me. I really appreciate it. I can not wait to see the movie in the theater!!!
It must be so wonderful to be a pilot and see such panoramic vistas as part of their workplace environment. God bless America's pilots!
