My first airplane ride that I remember was in a Crossly Moonbeam Biplane. I was 4 or 5 I've never really wanted to do anything else.

I'm not sure which profession was the first that I wanted: Pilot, Wall Street Trader, Lawyer. I can remember reading the business section of the newspaper when I was 6 or 7. I can remember reading legal rulings in the same timeframe. I can remember a tour of the cockpit of an aircraft roughly the same time.

I chose the easy path; I became a pilot. While this thread isn't totally worthless, it's darned close.

I forgot to mention that I also wanted to be President. Fortunately, by the time I was able to cast a vote, I realized that the biggest hore in the US is the President. I'm too lazy to be a hore. (Intentional misspelling; the forum filter won't allow me to spell it correctly).

Pilot as early as I can remember, in fact I don't remember having much interest in any other professions except for film / special effects. Back in the super-8 days it was harder and more expensive to play around with film than it is today. I could usually only afford one take, and then I had to wait a week to see how it turned out...certainly tried my patience at age ten.

Before age 5... Probably earlier. I remember sitting around watching my older brother put together a Monogram B17 and going to the AF museum I Dayton... It's always been planes.

Too bad the profession is not as good as the job.

One of my first memories is of my dad giving me a model of a B-17 and telling me he flew in them in the war (He was a bombardier). That was pretty much when I knew what I wanted to do with my life.

How many of you knew, from a very early age (3-7 years old) that you were going to be a pilot??

I am convinced there are two professions like this: pilots and firefighters.

So, at what age did you know FOR SURE, you were going to fly airplanes?
I too have a theory, based on flying and reading your other posts...
At what age were you conviced you had to marry a pilot? Or a firefighter.....I am convinced there are 2 types of women-those that have and those that will.

So, at what age Fashion, were you SURE you wanted a pilot?

Must have been when she wanted to attain true social status, glamour, world travel, big bucks, and a man in uniform.

Same here. A low number in the Draft Lottery was very persuasive.

I toyed with the idea of being a firefighter for a while and was a Firefighter/EMT for a rural VFD with a surprisingly high call volume. Loved the fire fighting, I liked doing heavy rescue but I HATED the medical portion and 90% of your calls were medical if you were an EMT. I left it, let my EMT expire and have never looked back.

You can only see so many dead, sick, or mangled people in a lifetime. I had my fill of it.

Lol! I've never dated either...when I was still flying the guys were too old for me, and mostly married (not that that stopped them!)
I always loved my guys tho. But we worked very closely and were like family. It was the Part 91-135 crowd and half the time we were trying to get over 50% 135 for a new plane and basically lived together for the last 4 months of a year...they were very much father figures for me.
Now in my mid 30's, I would be more open to it. It might be the uniform.
Forget firefighters, not my thing at all.
