I'm somewhat in the OPs boat. My fiance and are both airline employees and we will be nonrevving for our honeymoon 10 days from now. We are hoping that the time of year for the destinations that we have chosen will play in our favor as it is still the off-season right now for them.

Both of us being airline employees and having played the non-rev game for years, we know what to expect and what could happen. Thankfully we are both pretty flexible time-wise and expectation-wise.

As an aside, the first leg of our journey will be LAX-FRA Lufthansa business ZED. Hoping to try out the new business class on Lufthansa's new 747-8i. My ONLY for sure item that I have to do is to drive the Nurburgring via one of those race car rental places at the track. Anyone here ever done that?

As for the OP, August will be challenging, but not impossible, depending on where you're going. Last August I gave two buddy passes to a couple friends that flew to Greece and came home through London. Told them to not hold their breath, but they lucked out and had no trouble.

I bought a one-way to the location to make sure I got there and then jumped back. I made it back later than my wife, but we both arrived back home that day.

I tried to non rev on my honeymoon... After half the day at the airport I went and bought my wife a ticket on Southwest and I jumpseated.

I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks for all the replies...general consensus sounds like, if I want any peace of mind/frequent lovemaking, Id better just buy a ticket.

Was thinking of either Bermuda or somewhere in the Bahamas.
