No, they don't want them to have it.

Their only real (and justified) concern is that if the wheels come off the nK bus, they will be inundated with millions of starving refugees flooding across their border.

They would be perfectly happy if nK went away, it's just the manner of the going and the possible fallout that concerns them.

The immediate future predicted for your convenience: The US and South Korea will finish their joint military excercise in a few days, North Korea will declare victory and things will return to the normal state of low- grade fear and loathing. No missles will be launched and Austin, Texas will remain safe.

Lil' Kim will invite some US basketball players over for a post game victory party. Kim is now thinking about some tatoos and a diamond earring or five and some gold grillwork.

My daily interactions with intel staff over the years have changed me forever.

So, just be very cautious of any exact claims coming from intel folks (especially agency heads that make statements based on their staff). Try to never take it for granted that they are always accurate. That’s all I’m saying.
This. Cope India proved that "You don't know what you don't know. Lack of supporting evidence isn't proof that it doesn't exist." There are more examples too, specifically with NODAKs.

PAJU, South Korea -- North Korea warned early Thursday that its military has been cleared to attack the U.S. using "smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear" weapons, while the U.S. said it was strengthening protection in the region and seeking to defuse the situation.

Despite the intense rhetoric, analysts do not expect a nuclear attack by North Korea, which knows the move could trigger a destructive, suicidal war...
