Toddler killed by 7 pit bulls

I own and breed German hunting terriers AKA jagdterriers. They are fantastic dogs and do an outstanding job of tracking, baying, catching, flushing and retrieving. They are a true fur and feather breed that have a very sharp edge when it comes to aggression. They were originally bred for wild hog hunting, blood tracking and bird hunting.
Much like pitbulls they are fantastic dogs until they aren't. All it takes is the right moment and you never really know what that trigger moment is for them to get their blood up and once they do look out. The main difference being that jadgterriers are 16to 18" tall and weight between 18 and 25 lbs so they don't pose a serious threat to humans.
I have three at the moment which I use for hunting, they have been around the house cats for years with no issues, until they had one big issue about a year ago. I don't know why as they've lived together peacefully since the dogs were puppies but one day they decided to kill an old cat who had played with them all their lives and when it happened it happened fast and violently. Poor old Otis the cat must have given off a signal that enraged or opened up the prey drive in the terriers and once it did open it was over in about 3 seconds.
Instant aggression, prey drive and blood lust is a terrier trait. After all every breed of terrier was used as a killer of animals at some point. Pitbulls are just really big powerful terriers. I'd NEVER have children around multiple pitbulls. I won't let small children around my little guys unattended. I've seen what they turn into when they get that terrible terrier attitude turned on.

I would never own a Pit Bull for this very reason. Sure I know 99% of the time they are great dogs and gentle as a Lab, but they are still a ticking time bomb. I would never allow one around my 7 month old.
Do I think we need to get rid of the breed all together? Of course not, but I expect owners to keep them locked safely in their home, off the streets, and I consider you an extremely irresponsible parent if you leave your baby alone with a Pit no matter how well you think you know the Pit.

Mayor Ed Koch once proposed using dog packs to patrol subway train yards at night, but a reporter raised the liability problem if an innocent person were bitten. Koch responded: "Then let's use wolves -- they don't attack people." The reporter countered: "Maybe not in the wild, but pet wolves have indeed bitten people.". Koch replied: "I knew that. I would only use wild wolves, and if a wolf starts to become tame and bite people, we replace him."

No, it really isn't.
Australia,[22] Ecuador,[23]Malaysia,[24] New Zealand,[25] the territory of Puerto Rico,[26] Singapore[27] and Venezuela[28] and twelve countries in Europe[29] have enacted some form of breed-specific legislation on pit bull-type dogs, including American Pit Bull Terriers, ranging from outright bans to restrictions and conditions on ownership.[29][30] The state of New South Wales in Australia places restrictions on the breed, including mandatory sterilization.[31][32]
Certain counties and cities in the United States have outright banned ownership of the American Pit Bull Terrier, as well as the province of Ontario in Canada.[29][33] American Pit Bull Terriers are also on a list of four breeds that are banned in the UK.[34]

Also, how do you know this little girl was torn to pieces? Did you witness the event?

Your response about killing unleashed pitbulls simply because you're afraid of them is ignorant. It's as simple as that.
