I wonder if the Concorde would still be flying today had it not crashed.

I thought it was combination of factors that included the accident, rising MX costs on the plane, slump in 9/11 travel/cost of the product provided, etc.

I saw it take off and land in JFK a few times before it was retired. STILL looked very advanced for it's time.

Watching it take off while doing a pre flights on the Delta ramp as it was making the left turn off of 31L gave a cool view of the engines in AB takeoff.

The 757-200 is one of the nicest flying transport airplanes ever built. I agree that it is lacking the PAX comfort / gadget department however.

How about, an unfortunate chain of events which had happened before but the airlines decided not to fix it, led to a mishap.

Now, I think we finally it correct.

That could work - but then why don't we just make planes out of kevlar then and we won't have to worry about bursting tires puncturing any part of the skin. It could go on and on.
Airplanes are mechanical, being asked to do some pretty drastic stuff, and stuff happens. In the real world - safety related issues are mitigated but not always fixed outright due to cost (inhibiting fuel vaporization is another that comes to mind).

All depends on how the operators configure them. Remember the DC-9s flown by Legend or Midwest (2x2 seating)? They were more comfortable than any coach seat on a 777.

NEVER take a jalopnik list seriously. Most of the time they're a joke.

So what do you guys think ARE the ten worst planes? No one seemed to dispute the Russians, not that we've all flown on them. Crj and erj were mentioned, haven't flown either but as a pax I think the crj 100/200 are pretty bad. Low windows and the wall curves in quite a bit at head level. Dash 8 q200? Sucks to be stuck behind one is all I know.

My personal list of the top ten worst airplanes based on experience.

1. All piper singles other than the Super Cub and maybe the Malibu.
2. All Light Piper twins other than the Aztec and the Chieftain.
3. Any and all Mooney's. Tinker toy little POS
4. C-205 The 206 hit the mark the 205 just wasn't it.
5. C-175 Geared POS engine and under powered as well. If it's going to be under powered give me a reliable engine.
6. Older Franklyn powered Mauls
7. Stinson 109
8. MU-2 AKA the smoking hole.
9. Merlin/Metro Liners. ...Fun to fly but really poorly designed airplanes.
10. A-320 in a gusty cross wind it has the control and feel of a floppy, dead mackerel. And it's broken all the time.
