I can fly a kite up to 400 ft and I don't even need a license to do it.

"For now, the FAA has banned most uses of UAV’s while it figures out the risks these devices pose and draws up regulations."

I guess flying my RC airplanes means I have been violating the FARs for over thirty years.

How can things get worse? Here is how.

PBS: The rise of the Drones

Missy Cummings says that UPS and FedEx will be using unmanned aircraft in the future. Mary (Missy) Cummings is an Associate Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She was one of the United States Navy's first female fighter pilots.[1]

Important quotes and statements from the interview of Missy Cummings are; "expensive pilots" and "five to ten years Fedex and UPS will be flying packages around (using drones)" Note: time point 3:48

I do not doubt that in 20 years pilots will still be in fight decks but their wages will be considerably lower and influence on the flight-deck severely marginalized. If you are under 40 I would start now planning for your career change.

Missy is a well-known to us navy people. Reasonable to assume that she hates the stereo-typical pilot culture (mil and civilian), and gleefully looks forward to tearing it down. I wouldn't consider her to be an objective observer
