Movie, "FLIGHT"

It is a movie about sobriety with some aviation in the background. It was not the movie I had thought I was going to see.
This review (Flight Review: A Ruinous Failure of Expectation Versus Reality) I think explains it all. The way the film was marketed (from the trailer) is a bait-and-switch that feels like an advertisement for a 12-step program. Denzel is great in certain roles (Training Day, Crimson Tide, etc), but not quite here.

I enjoyed the movie, however I am a little upset that it portrays professional pilots as alcoholic coke heads. Be prepared for the possibility of increased public scrutiny, rude comments, inappropriate and unjust accusations, random breathalyzer tests and "wiz quizzes"...

I agree with this....the traveling public will make these comments and it's going to be up to the crews on how to handle it. I mean looked what happened when the news reports about drunk pilots, there was a rash of passengers questioning the pilots sobriety. Some will say don't worry about what they say and others will go ahead and do the tests just so there's no question.
Anyways, will go see the movie and report back unless I'm too drunk and forget to.

I honestly don't see how this will change the public perspective.
Anyone with half a brain realizes that this is a MOVIE and NOT based on a true story. It is for entertainment just like any other movie ever made.
Now we will always have the idiots who think "I wonder if all pilots are actually like this?".
Most will think "Denzel does an EXCELLENT job portraying a FICTIONAL character yet again!"
Just my .02

It is based my own knowledge of hearing a story of a captain at rehab who when flying he would have to look at the phone book on the nightstand to figure out what city he was in.

You don't have to drink to have that problem, just work too much. I remember waking up in a hotel I recognized but couldn't remember where it was. I opened the curtains to look outside and was still confused. I had to look at my pairing to figure it out.
