Air Traffic Controller
I took a "temporary job" as an air traffic controller 26 years ago and ended up staying ATC because I didn't have the money to finish flight training back then. I'm finishing instrument, commercial, and multi-engine ratings up here in Alaska this year, then getting CFI/CFII/MEI rated early 2019 to work at a large flight school toward the airline job of my dreams. Yes, you CAN start over at age 50 if you have the motivation...and extra money. My biggest challenges are making the change of career work while keeping my spouse happy, maintaining an income, and living in a location that keeps the youngest kid in one high school for 3 years--while I flight instruct then move to a regional airline. "It's an entirely different kind of flying, altogether."

Author seeking old airline stories
My name is Jeff Egerton. I'm an author from Tucson, Arizona. I'm about to finish a nonfiction book entitled Into the Wild Blue Yonder. This is an early history of the US airlines, from their formative years to the jet age.
I'm looking for stories from airline personnel, from years past. If anyone knows any retired pilots or airline employees who would like to share some anecdotes, I can be reached as: [email protected].
Thanks,
jeff
