Default RF interferance, simple question

Obviously this is a hypothetical. PAX may get a bit iffity if a HAMer starts talking to... well anyone really. I'm just wondering is all, as on the ground the comms window is only about 10 or so minutes, less on a handheld to communicate with the ISS as it passes overhead.

Would a 5Watt transmission on 144.490MHz interfere with any equipment on board? If no, and the transmitter were licensed would this be, strictly speaking, illegal. I imagine it would be against most airlines internal policies.

Thanks in advance, Jason.

Not likely, but they may cuff you and beat you to death on the outside possibility that it may.

LOL, thanks jungle, always up for a good cuffing and beating... Turns out its legal... But, airliners make a pretty fair Faraday 'cage' so in this hypothetical you lose most of what you gain.
