That's funny, because at my employer we're allowed to use the A/P all the way down to CAT I mins, but if we're doing a CAT III approach, we have to hand fly from the FAF inbound. Worse weather = more hand flying.

Looks like it was a problem you had with the philosophy of your former employer, rather than an issue with the actual automation.
