Those oh so classic slobs that do not have their mommies there to clean up after them and too lazy and non-caring anyway. Obviously, way to important and busy to pickup after themselves.

Had someone leave melted ice cream all over once. I just kept picturing Pee Wee Herman licking an ice cream cone with one hand and flying with the other.

Any ride reports at FL600?

Last night, SWA flight SMF - LAX, deadheading or commuting pilot, proudly sporting his "ALPA" lanyard and his white shirt minus epaulets (clever disguise - nobody would guess you're a pilot), packed plane, only a few middle seats left, one of them happens to be next to him but it's "taken" by his overcoat, man purse, and other assorted crap. I ask, "Mind if I grab that seat?" He looks up with a "really...?" expression. Yeah, really. He slowly moves his stuff. So slowly, in fact, that I tell him, "Ya know what? Never mind." I head aft to find a different one.

No wonder the public hates airline pilots.

Happy Holidays, buddy.

Yes even pilots hate pilots.

Maybe he was someone important. You should've asked him.

I hate DH'ng. I had a window seat last night (better than middle) and a beach ball shaped woman sat in the middle seat. She was overflowing past the arm rest. She wanted to raise the arm rest but I wouldn't let her. 3 hours of barely being able to move my left arm. Oh how I hate DH'ng.

Guys who complain about working Christmas while others sit in Forward Operating Bases wishing they could kiss their kids goodnight. I know it sucks, but it could be worse.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Happy Holidays everyone!

As someone who has been deployed during Xmas, I don't mind those complaining about being away from their families. I chose to be there and doing what I was doing. I always had the mindset, "So others don't have to.".
We get it, there's always someone who has it worse.

To the Captain in ORD who thinks I deserve a reassignment for picking up OT during the holidays; you sir, are the TOTD.

how dare you work on the holidays and prevent someone who wanted to stay home from being extended, junior manned or called in on reserve!!! I hope you learned your lesson!

mosteam3985 12-28-2012 01:28 AM

My nomination

Maybe this has been mentioned before but after another rather sleepless night, my TOTD nomination goes to every person who comments on airplane videos on Youtube, especially cockpit videos. Armchair flying at its finest. The videos are fun, the comments are ridiculous.

How about the freaken engineers at Boeing who designed the toilet seat and lid? They must really hate pilots.

The new lid or the old lid? There is a difference.

First off, stand with your back against the door. I usually bring a few manuals to stand on. And whatever you do, make sure everything is secured before you hit flush!

The newer lids fall slower.

The tool that followed us through wash/jax/mia centers yesterday, "checking in at three-six-oscar".
Wasn't funny over sby, wasn't funny 2 hours and 11 sectors later in FL.

I don't know who you work for, but if it is UAL perhaps he was thinking of all the furloughed pilots who might have liked to fly your trip.

TOTD in general... picking up any extra flying with pilots on furlough

bigscrillywilli 12-29-2012 08:38 AM

How about Pdt CAs picking up OT in right seat when we had people on furlough (one of only s&$t companies to not offer voluntary furloughs)

Yep... they are TOTD, but the union officials who are silent on this issue are thus condoning such behaviour, thus they too are TsOTD

Denny Crane 12-29-2012 09:00 AM

Now I know all you guys are going to jump on me and call me a tool etc. That's fine. But, for the sake of argument, consider this:

For the purposes of my argument one assumption has to be made and I think it's a valid assumption: A trip that is unassigned, in open time etc., one way or another, is going to be assigned to someone.

So, why not let someone who wants to fly that trip fly it instead of it being inversely assigned to someone who doesn't want to fly it? Especially over a holiday like Christmas?? I get it that, if you have furloughs, you want those pilots back off the street but if the trip is going to be flown one way or another, why not have it be flown by one that wants to do it instead of someone who doesn't?

The only way it might help furloughs is if the trip goes unflown, no-oped. Then it might help them. How often does this happen???

Please show me where I'm wrong!

Fire away!! (I'm leaving town before you guys "get a rope!") :)

Denny (Not a big overtime flyer) Crane
