Perfect thread for a maybe doctor to lecture profession pilots.

At this point the thread appears to have run it's course when doctors come here to lecture pilots.

For what its worth, a T-38 used to have an AOA indicator. It was a very nice visual backup to the tactile vibration the jet transmitted at various levels of AOA. The indicator in the F-15 was not used in tactical maneuvering, but was an invaluable tool in AHC and BFM instruction when I could show a pilot on tape review the energy state and AOA at various points in a maneuver or engagement.

Yeagher was made a saint by "The Right Stuff". Most who have worked with the guy will tell you he is an arrogant ass, and a good pilot. Bob Hoover is an outstanding pilot, and an ambassador for pilots everywhere. Be Bob Hoover. Wannabes worship Yeagher. Real professionals in the industry respect and emulate Hoover.

I don't know jack-**** about angioplasty, valve replacements, or other cardiac related matters. I would never attempt to substitute the books I've read, the aerospace physiology training I've done, or my experiences with friends or family for a consultation with an MD who was an expert in his field. As a pilot who has flown 36 years, including lots of time in GA, military fighter operations, and various airline types , I can tell you that the differences between the genres are deep, pronounced, and not subtle. When you start to make pronouncements and declarations about stuff you really don't understand, you reveal a brash overconfidence in your own experience and a condescending tone towards those who take their craft as seriously as you do.

If there was a nicer way to tell you to S-T-F-U, I'd try to do it. That's about as nicely as I can put it.
Lighten up Francis, just because he has a different opinion doesn't mean you have to grand stand. Standard EX light gray driver. Put the soap box away. I would argue that the dude who starts bringing up BFM and AHC with no context on "airline pilot" central forum is the clown

By the way it's retarded that some chick tried to get her boyfriend through. We all know it. Yeager was an ass. We all know it. Bob Hoover was just a dude. We all know it. And guns have no place on a flight deck. We all know it. Are you gonna take pot shots through the peep hole? Give me a break. Anyone who has a gun on the flight deck is lacking something in their pants to compensate for.

Heard this one play out on the radio the other month.

"Airline #### descend at pilot's discretion and maintain FL340."
"PD to 340, Airline ####"
*a few minutes pass by*
"Airline #### descend and maintain FL340."
"Descend and maintain FL340 now, Airline ####"
"I thought you you said pilots discretion, which means WE descend when WE WANT down to 340!"
"Airline ####, affirmative, but now I need you to descend to FL340 due to converging traffic that would be hazardous to your health."
*In the most sarcastic tone possible* "Ohhhh Okayyyy I guess we'll descend to FL340 for our healthhh...."

Way to berate the controller for doing his job...

No... your airline does not pay you to interfere with others jobs... Again... TSA gets paid to deal with these bone heads. The agent will take up the matter with the F/A's airline if they deem the situation/outcomes warrants it. Bottom line the no pax proceed beyond the "gatekeeper" without proper credentials and or boarding pass off appreciate.

I feel like I've been hearing more and more of this kind of stuff as time goes by.

Yeah, because major and legacy guys are soooo much more courteous to controllers. Only regional pilots are a$&holes.
