That happened to me right next to Houston Hobby. Police officer said the hotel had a bar and recommended a beer there as opposed to getting mugged.

Although it's not a requirement, it is strongly suggested that all captains at Delta do that.

Yeah but he's taking about a first officer to do that on his own. Whole different bag of marbles there. A captain has a little more discretion for that type of thing and there's nothing toolish about that.

We have a few guys here who would do that to our overnight letters.

Thought about you yesterday captjns. I was dead heading and a passenger in first asked for cognac. He never got to the bread sticks, though.

In 27 years of domestic and international DAL travel, I've never seen that. I'd probably mutter, tool, under my breath - or engage in a more toolish "I'm a pilot too!"

Which reminds me of another story:

Flying on a DAL 737 (ICT-ATL) where I can see the engines. I notice mx putting in oil. During the entire flight, I notice a nice brown streak running down the side of the engine. I contact the FA. She says, "nothing to worry about", I tell her I'm a pilot and that leaking oil is usually not a good thing". Her response - "do you fly a 737?" I kinda kept quiet after that, but a "I'll let the CA know, or yes we are aware and are monitoring" would have gone a lot further for customer service.

Had a passenger get off one day making a mild scene as he was deplaning about our dangerously close proximity to another aircraft as we were landing.

So I tried to explain parallel runway operations. He insisted that we were closer than 500 feet and wanted to know why we didnt respond to our TCAS. So I politely asked him what TCAS.

Figured that was one way to shut him up.

The chick that sat beside me in the middle seat that wouldn't slide over to the empty window seat and smelled like a egg-McMuffin.

Was it a 737-200? If it was leaking, you were OK. It was when of course it stopped that you should have been worrying.

Please, tip your waitress and try the corned beef.
