Over the last few years, I've heard a number of PA's on guard, and 90% of them have been UA. I really don't care... it's hilarious, I just thought it was quite the coincidence that it was all the same carrier.

I guess cue the minority/female hiring practice peanut gallery.

Well, at least I've learned one thing over the years, is not to mention my airline or flight number when on the PA. You know, the just in case factor. After all, by the time we level off, the folks in the back know the airline, flight number, and intended destination, I hope.

United? Come on, we know that guard is Delta's company frequency. It seems like half the time I hear somebody trying to call ops on guard, it's Delta.

How about the guard police? I've flown with a few of them. Instead of popping a blood vessel, how about just deselecting the radio, or turning it down? Sheesh.

Oh, we own the ramp/ops calls on guard. No one can hold a candle to us. We monitor guard on 2 and are too busy thinking about how awesome/counting buttons to remember to flip the ramp/ops frequency over. That's how it happens.

I just thought it was interesting that likewise UA holds the PA on guard trophy. There's got to be a similar reason.

You want to go into frequency limbo? Or screw up a call? Try the audio control panel (ACP in airbus speak) on the Airbus. If you are noticing one particular company it's probably a bunch of guys transitioning to the bus.

Wife and I going on vacation this week...Air Wisky Capt giving his welcome aboard speech...

"I'm so and so, and up here with me is Co-Captain so and so..."

Alright, cool guy to fly with sounds like.

Then he says:

"Welcome aboard this Canadair Whisperjet."

No. No sir. There is one "Whisperjet".

The wonderful 727, where a 1,000 hours meant 800 hours of climb, 100 hours of cruise and 100 hours of descent and landing.

Deafening, really
