The point is, we have conditioned the flying public to expect "Perfect One Hundred Percent Accident Free Airline" service, on time, in the snow, for $49.

Maybe instead of telling everyone how easy it is to fly jets (psst, it's much easier than props), if we had more like Captain Tool Box, to tell them that every flight is a near death situation, where they will be hurtling towards earth at 500mph, and only the highest skilled human beings in the world, can save you from certain death, we might have a little more public/political support, next time Management cuts our pay 42% and flushes our retirement down the toilet and we want to have a Job Action.

Instead we have instilled the, "You just push buttons" mentality in our pax. Delta has taken that one step further by actually showing a Captain in uniform, pushing a button marked "FLY", in their new on board saftey videos.

Thank God for Capt. Manno, at least he blows it up to the point where...now I'm afraid to fly!

Oopps...gotta go to work today, I hope we get the long runway in NRT!

Did he quote a Bucking Bar post in his gatehouse PA and it made you mad?

Let us know when you get those details.

Unless you're saying being a MD-88 Captain makes you a tool.

In a recent completely unscientific double blind poll, more -88 captains wore long sleeve shirts than other fleets. You do the math...

Basic background from a FDX pilot that called me. Capt. Tool gets up using the door one PA and introduces himself and the Fo as Tom Selleck and Tom Cruise. Mentions how he flew fighters in the air force, likes to fly fast and that is why he has lost his hair. Points out some follicly challanged pax and mentions they must like to go fast also. There is more but the witness had to fly and will get back to me later with the date and flt. #.

Sounds like a great opportunity to demonstrate why the gatehouse PAs are an iffy idea for some guys.
