What about “Chugger”? We had a QCQ (quarterly recurrent) where our flight ops VP introduced one of our Mad Dog Captains to explain an inflight emergency he encountered, and he introduced him by his callsign....Chugger. I cringed a little. I agree that Smiley or Smitty, whatever, isn’t bad, but how do you earn the callsign of Chugger?

Somehow, I doubt it has anything to do to beer.

In his spare time, he is an opera singer.

Reminds me of something you would hear on a SNL skit.

Does any one know if Hollywood has a moustache or not? Serious question.

Nacho Libre 01-01-2018 11:45 AM

As this PA is being said can you picture the FO seated right next to him whispering “don’t say titties” while making a motorbotin face and gathering his stuff?

Maybe he doesn't drink, and the nickname is kinda like Beard from ZZ Top.

rickair7777 01-01-2018 02:02 PM

Somebody played Hollywood's rant on guard yesterday...

Because it will inevitably ignite the red vs. blue flame war. I was not necessarily saying it wasn't toolish.

I guess one might say that the mods were very strict on Commercial Aviation today.

WN call signs

We do have a couple of PHX "Single Seat" guys left on property with their preferred name as Maverick or Goose or what ever they like...Its usually a big red flag when you see them on your board to fly with. Its the full cow jacket with the American flag tie and show up 3 minutes prior to push and still take 2 minutes to BS with the FA's. Always a pleasure to fly with americas greatest generation :D:D:D

oh and if you asked them to fly a single leg not using V/S they would have an aneurysm

tomgoodman 01-04-2018 08:44 PM

3 minutes prior to push? Well, if they really want to show up that early, I don’t see any harm in it. :D

Bahahaha! Spot on!! The only thing you forgot to mention is their handling of the airplane on the ground being more conducive to boxes rather than pax. Embarrassing.....

As a Compass guy, I shake my head pretty frequently when I hear Compass on the radio.

It feels like every other main line new hire these days feels like they can start a consulting business.
