Landing on 25L in LAS. It's busier than usual for arrivals. ATC told us to makes 1 S-turns on final. United 737 was behind us. We landed, hurried off the runway, (we almost has to go around due to spacing). Tower told United to go around.

United pilot - "You guys have to do a better job with this spacing" (He has a unique voice)

A couple minutes later

United - "what do you want to do with us now?"
Tower - "fly xxx heading, climb to xxx...... Was that you that told us to do a better job with the spacing?"

United - "I don't know what you're talking about"

If he was smart, he should have said "nah, that was Spirit!" :D

Naw, that would have been a dead giveaway. Everyone knows Spirit don't give two sh!ts about "spacing".

Well he isn't wrong. LAS spacing is the worst in the country.

Agree. If any controller from LAS ever transfers to New York we're all screwed.

ShyGuy 12-25-2016 09:26 AM

I never understood pilots who like to quip ATC over separation. They don't tell you to dial a high speed in FLCH/open descent and throw the boards to make a restriction or preference to be down sooner. So why should you tell them about how to do their job? Could very well be spacing lost because one aircraft got slower than expected sooner and/or one was still faster and taking his time to slow.

They have the bigger overall picture, the pilot has only the picture of himself and the guy in front of him.

Don't be this pilot:

No one said he was wrong. If he has a problem with it, he could have waited until the flight was compete, then call ATC's number to find out what the problem was, and what caused him to go around.

Firsttimeflyer 12-25-2016 05:40 PM

Or ATC could get with the program and realize the old 737 now does 150+ on final and separate accordingly. They have no problem calling a 50 knot slower speed 250 miles out but 15 mile final and all bets are off.

Airbus is going to develop a new approach energy management method called "groundspeed maxi" for use when the preceding acft is a 737. That should make it all good.

GroundSpeed Maxi will go great with Spirit Wings!

Oh man I remember him, ord I think.

I'd like to start the new year by nominating the inventor of touchless bathroom accessories. Mr. Sloan, your faucets suck and you steal a$$ gaskets from me during desperate times.

I'll agree, except for the auto a$$ gasket in ORD. That thing is a up there with the wheel as far as inventions go.

The ORD a$$ gasket guy should win the Nobel.

I walk 10 minutes out of my way to use that bathroom when possible. Best feature of the airport, hands down.

I thought every crapper in ORD had that amazing contraption installed...

Qotsaautopilot 01-01-2017 10:01 AM

Do you not have skin contact with the plastic housing on the rear of the seat? Maybe I've been sitting wrong all these years

badflaps 01-01-2017 01:42 PM

You guys must have grooved cheeks, I keep sliding off the ORD potties.

Honestly had no idea, I've only used two rooms of rest there. One is near our gates for #1 but will make the hike for much nicer facilities for anything else.

If they're next to the Spirit gates I'm betting they're next to every other gate as well!

The best place to drop anchor in ORD is at the men's room by security between the Spirit and Frontier check-in counters. Nice and quiet.

saxman66 01-02-2017 06:11 AM

There's also the "ambulatory stall" in the B gates at ORD. Worth the hike if you ask me.

TODs for talking about toilets! How banal!

Hasn't anyone got a fellow pilot to roast?

Yeah, but it wipes the "crumbs" off with a little brush under that cover.

What?? This is the funniest thing I've read on here in like 300 pages. You get TotD for using the word 'banal'.

I agree, but the worst one is across from G5. Smells permanently, seat have the nice covers but the seat doesn't fit toilet so you sit on the toilet in spots

Holy cow I'm with you. When I excitedly had my wife come watch the video she just gave me a dirty look and walked away shaking her head.

I'd like to nominate the AA or SW Capt who was in LGA the other day wearing jeans, a button down shirt with too many buttons unbuttoned, his leather bomber jacket with name tag and pilot hat.

Hey now! Give him the benefit of the doubt! Maybe the lid fell of his coffee in the van and then he blew out the back of his pants looking for his backup shirt. :D

This was a few years ago but I had a guy approach me for a jumpseat in EWR wearing an Under Armor compression top and his uniform pants. I told him he was welcome as long as he did something about his attire and HE looks at ME like I'm the weirdo! Mainline guy too. Can't believe he'd walk around the airport like that

Delta guy over Washington center who gets on the main radio gets all over the atc controller why he isn't taking control of the situation. Atc didn't hear anything and we didn't either.

Maybe he heard a bunch of regional pilots goofing around on guard and mistook it for com 1 radio chatter.:D
