+1... FOM is most restrictive, so I imagine some airlines require it and some don't. Spirit does not (until they change the FOM again).

Better check that FOM one more time.

I stand corrected. Good find.

No problem. Finding anything in that thing is like finding a needle in a haystack.:)

I read the jumpseat section three times and went right over it!

I guess I really am low tier.

I doubt it solved the problem but it was very gratifying. Would have loved to see their face when s/he opened up that little surprise!

Well someone like you did that to me except the pilot before me had left pieces of paper on the deck, I just didn't bother to pick them up, then the pilot after me put them in my v-file. He probably pumped his chest just like you.

It's possible! It seems to me that there may be a cautionary tale there about the hazards of kicking the can down the road. Now if you'll excuse me, much chest pumping to do today. Enjoy your day!

A couple of years ago we got an email from the union reminding us to check credentials on all JSers even if they have a seat in the back. The story goes that a crew was getting a line check from a fed. JSer checks in with the Captain, Captain tells him to grab a seat. After the formalities are done fed goes back to get JSers info since he is an XCM. Guy didnt have his license or medical on him so the Captain gets violated.

After that email I always check.

Al Czervik 08-18-2016 10:01 PM

The guy asking about measurement conversions on guard. *** dude?

You touched it, you owned it. I always leave the plane clean and organized for the next people, even if I have to clean up the previous crew's mess. Whether or how I address the issue with the previous crew is my problem, but I don't just pass it along.

Sorry dude, it was pieces of paper down by the rudder pedals and maybe you like being on your knees, that's just not my thing.

Papercuts to the eyeballs during negative g turbulence encounters? Reflected sunshine starting a fire? Attracting Japanese origami artists to the flight deck where they then get stuck behind the rudder pedals? Very dangerous indeed.

That was good.
The first part of my post was tongue in cheek, second part not so much.

Styrofoam cup 2/3 full of tobacco spit in the cup holder. More than once.

A hanging offense or grounds for refusing the acft for biohazard in the cockpit? That smell triggers my gag reflex, but maybe barfing in the seat would give me a better TMAT story...

Only thing worse is the cup holder 2/3 full of tobacco spit.

On a related note, how in the hell do people actually chew? The smell just turns my stomach.

On a related related note, has anyone ever seen somebody actually chewing on that stuff? Id think it would get stuck in your teeth :D

It's good to be the Captain. "There will be no tobacco chewing in my cockpit!" ;-)

Hetman 08-20-2016 03:24 AM

It was on the captain's side.

Okay then... It's good to be the line triaining captain conducting training for a wannabe captain. "There'll be no tobacco chewing in my cockpit!"

Flew with Lady Captain once who would slip her shoes off in cruise and put her feet on the air vents, her feet stank.
I was a new F/O, didn't now what to do other than stare out my window and choke.

You should have massaged them for her. THAT would have made you her favorite FO!

Patty Bernstein: [provocatively] You know what I wanna do?
Navin R. Johnson: What's that?
Patty Bernstein: Guess *your* weight.
[starts squeezing on him everywhere]
Navin R. Johnson: Hey, you're really trying to be accurate!

He has a great number of videos. I don't know exactly what wrong with him but it's serious. God forbid he is going to upgrade some day but maybe not, it seems he's been to several regionals so far. I'm speechless.

I sort of picture him posting one of these, and then like the closing scene in the Social Network, just sits there all night hitting refresh hoping someone has liked or commented...

What irresistible force causes so many people to post video selfies which trumpet their own buffoonery? It's as if they crossed the event horizon of a weird black hole, created by the explosion and collapse of a super-massive idiot. :p
