Another instance the captain goes, we are going to talk to the cheap pilot, I said, what are you going to tell him? He was violating the manual, something simple, non life threatening, and I wouldn't let him.

The Acey guy on ATL tower who got in a hissy fit because they made him take the victor loop instead of letting him cross the inner runway. They had to taxi "all the way" to ramp 9, and that they always let him cross the inner all the time. Tower guy told him to take a phone number if he had a problem with it. Meanwhile I just wanted my landing clearance.

You must opine what weak F/O's or Capt's are. I've found weaknesses are derived from pour training and or instructing, and of course bad habits which go unchecked, or not be debriefed after checking events if observed. I'm happy if the spirit of the SOPs, which include proper R/T procedures (without hissy fits) are followed.

Somebody tell me that the hilarious PA accidentally made on Guard this afternoon at about 15:15 (or thereabouts) somewhere over coastal N. Carolina by Delta extolling the awesomeness of their carrier qualified, 168 (or however many) carrier landings, veteran crew wasn't staged. It was too ridiculous to be true. The deluge of abuse and cat-calling that followed it was as unbelievable as the PA itself, and I usually ignore abuse of 121.5. Even my relatively staid captain was laughing.

Not an accident, third time in a month. Someone thinks its funny to do the same joke (fake PA) over and over.

BS, it's not Delta, it's some little dweeb in his RJ running around the eastern US. It was actually well done and funny the first few times, but him and his copycats have worn out their welcome by endlessly repeating the same joke.

I've heard the same crap 3 times and I rarely get north of the FL/GA border.

Wouldn't recommend the same guys trying it when moving to mainline. It would be the last leg with me and I'd suggest it be the last leg with the company, but that would be someone else's decision.

I care. Military pilots are heroes. Landing on a ship, or on some piece of dirt with NVGs in the middle of the night, or even successfully completing a routine air-to-air refueling operation requires skill and training far beyond what I'll ever experience as an airline pilot. Heck, all of that doesn't even include the real stress those pilots deal with on-mission.

Hats off to the military folks. It's just a PA, down that cognac and turn up the volume on your headphones if you don't like it.

Has to be fake. The two times I have witnessed said PA, it was before pushback. Maverick and Iceman used the FA interphone and stood at the cockpit door in full glory. Slight pot belly and comb over to top things off. To be fair, one was Navy, the other USAFA.

100% agree. No pax gives a sh!t about how many combat hours you have (yes I had a captain that said it). The military guys that do this need to stop. And I am a military guy with plenty of combat hours. Same goes for hrs flown, carrier landings, .......

It's this dude ranting at an event that didn't occur, Insulting someone for saying they respect the sacrifice and complexity of military flying, and then topping it off with having the balls to say that airliner flying is as dangerous/complex/intense as military flying. It's just not true, and anyone who says that just sounds plain foolish/ jealous/ naive. Of course there are specific events that will raise your heart level and test your skills in any airplane, but we all know what I'm talking about as a whole. I respect both sides of the coin, civilian and military. One does not make a person better than another, but give me a break.

Exciting is all relative to the time and environment. But there you go with your bragging about your military flying. At the end of the day deadseal, one should be comfortable enough in their own skin where they don't have to keep reliving the past with those who really don't care. You respect civilian pilots? Reading you above posts and shows a holier than though attitude with complete disregard for a civilian pilot and then you end it with the word respect. All after you explain how the military flying is harder. Give me a break with the respect thing man. Personally, I could care less. In all walks of life it's better to remain silent and be thought the fool than to speak and remove all doubt. Actions and abilities prove what kind for pilot you are regardless of background or garbage spewed on a web board...

Yeah, fighters are about 5+ times more dangerous than the overall USAF rates and about 30x the civilian risk.

Deadseal is right, fighters are way more dangerous than airline flying. Over a 20 yr career you've got about a 10-15% chance destroying an airplane and a slightly lower odds of killing yourself.

That's not counting the roughly every 100 hr 'oh sh*t!' moment that doesn't make the official record.
