Personally I still take pride in my professional appearance but the companies have made it very clear that they don't care if you look like a slob as long as you're willing to work cheap. We've gone from $500 escorts to $10 hookers but the companies are still getting their happy endings |

You're right. At one point this profession attracted people with good personal and professional upbringing. Now due to the continued degradation of the career field it is attracting more people that don't have those qualities. Also the companies used to enforce professional behavior. At one time it was possible to be fired or at least reprimanded for not wearing ones hat. Now a pilot barely has to be able to fly an ILS and they get to keep their job.

From the accent he sounds like an Iranian.

Sounds more Indian to me. Not sure if they could violate him for anything, maybe tying up the freq?

Wow, excellent job making yourself today's TOTD with a single post, ironically in the TOTD thread. Congrats.
Heard a guy arguing with a controller that he had filed for FL380 and he couldn't understand why he was "not getting the altitude he had filed for":eek: Controller tried telling him as soon as traffic was out of the way he would climb him.......he still argued.....and also foreign  |

The psa captain in the crew room in PHL this am going off on the janitors, literally screaming on the phone becuase the sink was clogged in the men's room. Settle down colonel.

TOTD: Any former single seat, "fighter dude". Talk about a lack of ability to adapt. Yeah, you won the war, but which one? Flame on, but the egos have done little to help run a cockpit.

An extreme example. Drinking post flight beers after day 2 of 4 with an older FO I'd never flown with. Turns out we mutually knew another good guy CA who was texting him the standard buddy insults when he saw we were flying together. He shows me the text string and I ask why our mutual friend kept calling him "General". He humbly replies, "well, err, I was one and just recalled after retiring off active duty in USAF (Guard to active) He had also flown F16's/Vipers/Falcons/Lawn Dart or whatever you call that cool little thingy. He was also a 2 Star. He acted like any other co worker without the slightest hint of airs or arrogance. |
I agree. I've flown with more than my share of fighter/attack bubbas. Almost all were above average sticks and great guys to work with. Perhaps it was because we had military service in common, but I like to think my experience with them was pretty much universal.
Just because you've "lucked" into one of the marginal personalities doesn't make the whole group bad. Military or civilian background both have their Debbie Downers. Grit you teeth, grin and bear it. Next month is right around the corner. |

Not sure where you work or if you might be a little thin skinned, but after working at a major for over two decades with it's share of single seat bubbas', I don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Or the ops guy that yelled at me for requesting a lav service be done too close to departure time. |

Looks like the post was deleted.

The original post was deleted, which I seen what it was but if you felt you we're in such danger, and the crew wasn't being safe why didn't you just stop by the flight deck on the ground in DSM and asked why the crew made the decision they made?
|
Just deleted the text. DENpilot was onboard and clearly upset with the decision making upfront. Must have been a wild ride.

Curious... if he was on the plane which was below 10,000 feet, how did he get that screen shot? Interwebz are inhibited on GoGo below 10.

That's around the time the tornado sirens were going off in Kansas City.
