Idiot?
Maybe he's a stand up guy that doesn't need to milk the system and go through the pain and embarrassment of a lengthy trial process in order to make someone PROVE he's guilty when he knows he is.
Either he was asked to resign (fired) or he wants to man up and take his lumps.
I feel for him. We all do some pretty dumb things in our lives but most of us never pay the price. You never know. Its not always alcohol. Herman Cain comes to mind!

Because it's the honorable thing to do if you're guilty.
Just a few months after Babbit was sworn in, the FAA passed a more stringent DUI policy, coming down hard on first-time offenders.
His credibility is destroyed. He used extremely poor judgement. Where the FAA wants to take the higher moral ground on DUI, it's very own leader gets arrested for driving intoxicated.
What a joke.

I agree with the above posts on the fact that Randy made a bad call to drive. More importantly did we just lose an advocate for pilots?? Meaning Captain, Union President and FAA Admin... I appreciate Randy's service just wish he hired a driver/TownCar on Sat PM.

During our recent aviation accidents and incidents, the one standard comment I got from him was: "pilots need to learn how to be more professional." I think he was weak and self-interested. His exit from the agency doesn't change my view.
