Any B-17/B-24 pilots out there?
Im interested after I get through new hire training, and get settled in to go buy a B-17 or B-24 type rating. I miss hearing my grandfather telling me his tales of flying the -24 over the Hump and then coming back to work for Boeing as a B-17 delivery pilot, then his adventures flying for Continental. Id feel like I'd have some sort of a connection with him and that hes with me in spirit. It'll soon be the 3rd anniversary of his passing, and he played a BIG part in my chosen career. These beautiful machines will not be around forever, and I want to fly one before they're all doomed to sit in a museum collecting dust.
So if there are pilots out there on this forum, Id like to know and get your prospective on things and how to be able to do this.

One of my friends' dad is a member of CAF and got checked out in a B-29. I think they also have a B-17 and B-24
I even made it out to the Midland, TX airshow one year.

Also, check out the Collings foundation.

And if you have enough time, you can start researching all the different historical aircraft organizations
