Default 8,056 Commercial Pilot Certs issued in 2010..

So everyone quit telling me that only about 200 were issued!!! It seems every jumpseat I take lately (and seriously, thanks for the ride) everyone is passing along this 200 commercials hogwash. I realize there are lots of age 65ers, but still lots of folks in the pipeline.

I am using my mobile, and can't cut and paste the link, but I found this on AOPA. See also FAA.GOV.

Please pass this along!

That's actually not alot when you consider not all of those will fly professionally. How do those numbers compare to the last decade?

We discussed the same thing a few weeks ago.

I'm genuinely surprised

Many if not most of those commercial tickets issued were to foreign students who will not fly commercially in the US.

Yes, I could easily see that number being in thousands, maybe 4000+

Yeah, I'm sure. 'Twould be nice to tease out the number of commercials issued to foreign pilots. With that said, I do know of many foreign pilots staying on here in the states. Food.for thought.

Best regards,

I talked to a DPE yesterday who said 80% of his applicants are now foreigners. I'm sure that will vary with each region.

Let's just call it across the board/country at 50% we would be right at 4000 commercial applicant's. Not a ton but still not a little.

Best regards,
A few self-funded Europeans yes, but the vast majority of foreign students are asians who are in an airline or government sponsored training program...they will be going home.
