Default Aviation Watches

Does anyone know of a good aviation watch priced in the mid $100s? Nothing fancy, no E6B, maybe something with Zulu time.

Thanks!

Search the archives in this forum. Responses ranged from a $35 Timex Ironman (my choice) to a 5K Breitling.

Hope that helps!

What time is it Zulu where you are?

Many Casio models fit the bill.

Casio G-Shock. Just over $100. Best watch I've ever owned. You can get it in a black or silver metal band as well. It rehacks itself 4 times a day. We hack our watches every morning at work and it hasn't been off yet. One button click and you have your zulu time (or ~28 other time zones). It also has a time record, just hold down a button and it save that time...which works great for me because we only log t/o to land. I've beat this thing off the canopy for about 5 years now, with no scratches and runs great.

I like luminox (the plastic ones). Simple analog, bright tritium lighting, and can go through the metal detector (designed for military divers to not set off magnetic influence mines). Has a rotating bezel for time hacks.

Drawbacks: If you change the time a lot the the adjustment knob wears out and then it's broken. No alarm. Works OK if you stay in one or two time zones or leave it on zulu.

Went to St Thomas a couple months ago and I had to jump out the window...bought a Breitling But I've had a Casio G-Shock for the past 10 years and one of those nice Seiko's. But the G-shock is pretty good.

Any no-nonsense, dual time, quarts watch with a clear display or dial will do just fine.

Expensive pilot watches are for Aopa-magazine-type Douchebags and Pilots with compensation needs. I personally want the Rolex GMT

I've never understood the necessity of having a pilot watch...Any watch that tells the time is ok. Two time zones is nice but not necessary.
