Game Species: Bear Identification Program | Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife

So this is what my tax dollars are doing! Trust me, if I were confronted with a bear while hiking up at the Okanagan, I would not paws to ask the little cutie the length of his front claw or to show me his profile. I also will most certainly not ask about his humpback. That is so rude to question him about a medical condition. Why not also ask him if he's related to that other humpback in Notre Dame?

Since I don't believe in carrying guns, I guess I'll just accept the fact I'm dead meat. Better not to go hiking and get my bear paws at Top Pot Donut.

When I saw this I thought about Pilot 'N Paws, a charity group here in North Carolina that uses donated flight time to haul unwanted pets from the slaughter house to new homes. They have a Seneca and I thought I would fly a mission or two for them this year. I am still having trouble imagining 10 dogs yapping in the back of my airplane.

I would think if given the choice of carrying a weapon and being eaten, it would be easy to carry.

I can understand a philosophical aversion to shooting people, but a gun is just a tool, kind of like a scewdriver. Is it an inherently evil gadget if you have already decided only to use it on dangerous wildlife?
