Getaway Driver Couldn't Drive Stick Shift
I can't drive a stick shift either, so good thing I'm not into hijacking cars.
From Associated Press:
ECHO, Utah — A getaway attempt by a couple on the run after a shooting in Wyoming stalled in Utah when they tried to hijack a car but couldn't operate the stick shift, authorities said Monday.
The man and woman then tried to break into a locked home before police tackled the unarmed woman, and her partner, who was armed with a handgun, quickly surrendered.
Roy and Jessica Fritts of Union, Ore., were arrested Sunday in Echo, Utah, for investigation of shooting a traveling companion, Sweetwater County sheriff's Detective Dick Blust Jr., said.
Roy Fritts, 33, also is wanted in Oregon after fleeing from supervised prison release on two counts of attempted aggravated murder.
The couple was arrested after Edmund Thornell, 54, of Costa Mesa, Calif., was shot several times south of Rock Springs, Wyo. He was in critical condition Monday after telling authorities the couple had fled in his van.
Wyoming authorities spotted the van and chased it 30 miles into Utah, where it was disabled by tire spikes. The couple forced a motorist from a Ford Focus but weren't able to drive it, said Sgt. Ronald Bridge of the Summit County, Utah, Sheriff's Office.
"He doesn't know how to drive a stick shift," he said.
Police were trying to determine if the recovered handgun was used in the shooting.
Blust said formal charges were being prepared as the suspects were held at Summit County Jail in Park City.

Even more reason to own one! You just don't find too many anymore. I'm glad I can, I did some training for a gentleman that bought a Meridian out of the LA area, instead of me renting a car for the week, he gave me the key's to his Porche! Then said don't be shy about driving it, and go out to the coast at least once.

Me too!
Wish more people would because they are getting damn hard to find these days. The last truck i bought, I had to special order just so I could row my own gears. btw... the manual gearboxes, if driven correctly will get a couple mpg better than an auto.
