Once again, this shows a complete lack of understanding between the GA and airline sides of this industry. This is the last thing we need and only continues to perpetuate the fear mongering and theater that the TSA creates.

I like the last part, where it appears the TSA now would like the authority to revoke an airman certificate. I assume it would be done unilaterally without any recourse by the airman, just as airline travel ability can be revoked without explanation, justification or recourse.

TSA = the birth of the 4th Reich.

What is this "homeland security today" website? is it just a RA RA magazine and site for DHS employees to read? If it's at all like the magazine our company puts out, its full of utter malarky.

The "ID Requirements" at local airports end up being administered by the businesses at the local airport who monitor gate access to "their" leasehold premises. Most figure, "hey, if we've got to get ID, why don't we get their credit card number and charge them for access to the ramp ?" Next thing you know, extra charges for $125 to $1,000 start showing up on your credit card statement.

A call to the local airport manager will reveal that although the business was asked to verify ID's, it was not intended to collect credit card numbers, or begin charging for access to a public use facility.

It is no wonder General Aviation is dead and the lower end of Corporate Aviation (piston aircraft) are on the critical list. Our version of a Police State is like our version of Health Care. Access is VERY expensive. People find a choke point and treat it like their little monopoly.

The TSA is making up work to make up work.

No terrorist, thus far, has bothered with following the regulations. ... duh.

I think this article has more to do with looking at who is flying general aviation, not who is piloting airliners.
