Why do you guys have to be so sarcastic with what amounts to a supported argument about self development and how art can be used to support creativity (Maslow and the heirarchy of needs)? I sense more than a smidgeon of anger from you fellows and I hear put downs, thinly veiled hatred, and mostly unsupported rejection of artists and those who benefit from their work. Why are you so threatened? If your own values are so easily threatened, maybe it's time to clarify them. I suggest you try and see why your own values would have you preclude the peaceful appreciation of values that happen to differ from your own. That's what we learn in high school.
If I say I like chocolate ice cream and you happen to hate chocolate ice cream, do you really need to hate me for that opinion? Am I making any sense here? And couldn't you try chocolate every now and then and see if it's really so bad? I don't happen to like British Croquet but when I come across a game on tv and people are obviously enjoying it, I feel mildly happy for them and then I quickly move on to the History Channel and NASCAR. Life is too short to spend it hating others and the things they choose in order to discover meaning in life. I do not happen to like rap music but I recognize the cultural salvation it has been for a lot of rather depressed people in our society and I relish that fact. Rap music in fact now enjoys world influence, and again I have no particular fancy for it, but no need for animosity. Life is too short.

Artists, Sports figures, Actors, Polititians, Television Evangalists and their assorted entourages are endowed with the same free will that God gave everyone else. Choices they make are their own and they should not be endulged because you happen to envy them their ability to make a buck. They are not, after all, Fighter Pilots.
Sonny Jurgensen is the lone exception to this rule. As the greatest Quarterback of all time he should be able to get away with just about anything.

...and resent your trying to impose your values on me...
