I read somewhere that her Mother's name was Janis and that she was a Pharmacist.

Nothing to stop you from enjoying a little beauty in this world, and the nicest thing about it is that nobody will try to force you to like it or put a gun to your head and try to make you pay for it.

I actually had never heard of Amy Winehouse before her death, but when I heard of it I recognized her as a talented and driven seeker of the truth- a genuinely lamented fallen soul who ventured down the wrong path. I have been a seeker at times in my life and those needs are best addressed by the arts. Sometimes I think the best side of humanity is found in its arts and music. The most perceptive people are often attracted to the arts, and they become enchanted by the search for truth and beauty. Sometimes they go too far and it is easy to say they are foolish, but not so easy to get where they are and even harder to say they are wrong.

I'll have to admit that I don't think I've heard an Amy Winehouse song all the way through, but I thought this was interesting. What is it about 27 and artists?

Now I am a big Robert Johnson fan (thanks Clapton) and I didn't know he died that young.

Or sometimes they squader a talent God gave them by becoming 20somethings with too much money and free time, and decide to party themselves to death thinking they know how the world works. She wasn't a seeker of truth, she was someone that made a lot of money early in life with a gift, and spent it all on blow.

And you would have done otherwise? I am not sure you can honestly say as much. Imagine yourself with resources beyond your wildest dreams and an adoring public that would have you believe you are invincible. Be careful judging people like this woman. It is better if we see her sort as sacrificial lambs. The influence of talent, adoration, money, culture, and self expression can be lethal.

Good riddence IMO. Waste of life, and even worse the spotlight shining that direction only draws more lost souls to it.

It is a puzzlement that we often dismiss those who do not meet our expectations, while at the same time we blindly follow those who cannot possibly meet our expectations.
