The vast majority of the middle class have achieved that status without the help of unions. While I see the value in pilot's unions for safety, wages & work rules, most of the workforce does fine without them.

Class envy has been a longtime tactic of the Democratic establishment. I personally have come from a very humble background and have achieved what I now have through hard work.

I know that's the talking point that must be screeched by the far left. The reality is nobody held anybody hostage. Nobody is a terrorist. Our president got elected promising to govern from the left. He did not try to hide it. 2 years later, 65 tea party members got elected promising to stop the government from spending and indebting our children. They did not try to hide it.

Both sides are doing exactly what they promised they would do. But mathematics will soon trump all politics. Very soon our national debt will equal our entire annual gross domestic product. We will then be Greece.

That is math, not politics.

Carl;

I agree with the gyst of what you said, but there is a big difference between us and Greece. We can print money. So, we wont be Greece, when the math catches up to the politics, we will be Zimbabwe.

Great cut and paste! Lacking on just a few realities...

Here's a few:

DoE-Who do you think keeps track of the nuke fuel running around and makes sure it doesn't end up in a bomb in your backyard?

DoAg-Makes sure your food is safe to eat.

Medicare-Incredibly efficient delivery system of healthcare that you too will need when you find out that old people can't buy healthcare insurance.

Postal Service-You DO know this is a private corporation that funds it's operations on postage revenue collected, right?

PBS-Get real...what they get isn't worth the time to write this. What they provide to communities that don't have access to media is massive. But the word "public" is in the name, so it must be bad, right?

Social Security-Before it, 75% of America's elderly lived below the poverty line. Today?? 10% You paid for your parents and your kids will pay for yours. Here's an idea for you. Let's get rid of it and roll out the "death panels" the Republicans screamed about a couple of years back. Get rid of the old people, right? Drain the swamp...until YOU become one...right???

So...there's just a few off the top. Easy to spout off terms...really bites when you look beyond the talking heads who tell you how to think.

Not a good example. We have nuke fuel that is missing. Under the Clinton administration, Wen Ho Lee sent an entire computer hard disk to China with our nuclear secrets.

Not a good example. Poisoned Chinese human food and dog food made a number of dogs and humans sick.

Not a good example. Medicare has so much waste, fraud and abuse that the GAO recently said billions could be saved just by stopping waste. Medicare is so inefficient, that many doctors are no longer accepting medicare patients.

I think the record of the USPS speaks for itself. Almost seems like piling on.

Would be true if what they provided to the community was balanced. It is not. PBS is a far left media outlet. They fired Juan Williams for his personal thoughts and speech.

That was NEVER the intent of Social Security. FDR designed it as an account where you took out what you put in with some supplement for the needy. Now, there is no Social Security trust fund as was the case under FDR. The trust fund has no money in it at all. Its all been taken to fund our current spending. Thus our current system is a "pay as you go" system of current workers funding the retirements of the elderly. Unsustainable...and soon.

I've not listed one thing that wasn't a clear fact. All of us need to get past talking points, and start to understand math. Math will end all of these arguments...and soon.
