A pilot’s wife’s plea

Please come home, I feel so alone.
The kids are in bed and the dogs have been fed.

I’m getting so tired of this scene,
the same old boring daily routine.
No one to snuggle, no one to listen,
no one to play with or talk over din din.

I should not complain, with our country at war,
so many women just stare at the door,
wishing to see their hero once more.

So I will be strong and just say goodnight,
try not to fuss and put up a fight.

But as I lie down, I think to myself,
Isn’t there someone else who can land on the ground,
as smooth as butter, and without much rudder?
Who talks to the tower in a British accent,
while approaching the city with a perfect descent?
Who dazzles the hoes at the FBOs,
and shoots an approach with his eyes almost closed?

I guess there will be a big pay off someday,
A 100 foot Swan by the dock of the bay.

At least that’s what I see as I sit here alone,
rereading my texts from you on my phone.

So goodnight my pilot, I hope you sleep well.
Just remember your home is not a 3 star hotel.
