Default Atlantic X-ing/Bogata qestion from an Author

I've avoided this for a while, simply because throwing noob questions out in front of a lot of professionals is embarrassing at best. Also I'm not all that confident it's the right place for this. But, here goes...

I'm not a pilot, but I am a few hundred pages into my first attempt at a novel. Within the frame work of the plot there are some situations that require technical data or knowledge of corporate flying.

Two specific scenes involve flying into foreign countries: One would be a fueling stop in a northern Atlantic cross over (Iceland??). And another is Bogota, Columbia. These kinds of scenes beg conversation between the pilot and the airport/tower, along with at least some information on requirements, etc.

Along with these scenes, there are basic knowledge questions that come up every-so-often. I’m hoping to find someone with experience they wouldn’t mind sharing over time, probably through email.

This post is pretty basic. If there is more information I should include here, let me know. I would appreciate any response. By the way, I’m not online constantly, so I may not be able to answer responses to this post immediately, but I’ll keep on top of it as much as I can.

Thanks ahead of time. I appreciate it.

So, what is the question? Where to stop? Many planes can do this non-stop.
Atlantic ferry flight airports and fuel stops:

The following are typical fuel stops for general aviation aircraft when crossing the North Atlantic.

CYYR - Goose Bay airport, Canada
CYVP - Kuujjuaq airport, Canada
CYFB - Iqaluit airport, Canada
CYVM - Qikiqtarjuaq airport, Canada
BGBW - Narsarsuaq airport, Greenland
BGSF - Sondre Stromfjord airport, Greenland
BGKK - Kulusuk airport, Greenland
BIKF - Keflavik airport, Iceland
EGPC - Wick airport, Scotland

And another is Bogota, Columbia. These kinds of scenes beg conversation between the pilot and the airport/tower, along with at least some information on requirements, etc.

Again, don't really understand the question. Do pilots call the airport tower? Yes.

What requirements? To fly there? Paperwork? Licenses? Passports? Fuel? Visas?

I've been to Bogota a few times. It's very mountainous, it's at high altitude 8,800' if remember correctly. There are a bunch of derelict Russian airplanes lying around and the controllers speak pretty good English.

What else do you want to know?

I know the original post was vague. I was trying to get across an idea of the types of things I was looking for without taking the space to go into details. Some of what I am looking for is a bit detailed, and I figured might be more easily handled by email. That’s why I included the email address at the bottom of the post.

I had a suspicion that many jets may not require a fueling stop. That undoubtedly includes the one I’m using; a Citation X (It’s a very large, fictitious, corporation). I’ll include the stop over anyway, probably, as it’s fairly intrinsic to the plot.

Also I wanted, at one point in the novel to have an actual conversation between the pilot and the tower (generic). Whether that was during the fueling stop at the beginning of the novel, or in Bogota later on, it probably doesn’t matter.

There are several plot lines that I wanted to run past someone who could tell me whether they were realistic. That’s the reason for my wanting to use email if possible. I guess I’m still a bit self-conscious throwing this out in front of everyone. If you want me to handle it all here though, then I’ll do that.

I’m grateful for the responses, really; It may seem… trivial, but for a writer trying to build something realistic, having a knowledgeable source is critical.
