Gary Sinise Jams At JBLM
I love Gary Sinise!
From KING5:
JOINT BASE LEWIS MCCHORD, Wash. -- Oscar-nominated actor Gary Sinise will entertain Northwest military men and women for two days starting on Independence Day. Monday evening, Sinise and his band, the Lt. Dan Band, will perform at 6:30 p.m. Joint Base Lewis-McChord's Freedom Fest.
On Tuesday, the band will travel to the Kitsap Naval Base in Bremerton and perform at 8:00 p.m.
Both concerts are free to military families, put on by the USO Puget Sound.
Sinise is best known for his Academy Award-nominated performance in Forest Gump as Lieutenant Dan. He is also currently the star of CSI: New York.
Sinise plays the bass guitar in the 12-member cover band. For years, he and his band have traveled the U.S. and the world playing for the American military. He's also spent the last few Independence Days performing at military bases overseas.
“I can’t think of a better place to be,” said Sinise following a morning sound check for his band at Joint Base Lewis McChord.
Sinise recently started a foundation to support wounded members of the military and their families.
He said shortly after he played Lt. Dan in 1994’s Forest Gump, he began to attend veteran-related events.
“I realized early on that character had meaning,” said Sinise.
He said he hopes his celebrity will raise awareness and money for US soldiers.
