Default Travel Qs for those familiar with Korea

I didn't post this on "Layovers" because I think there are more readers in this section.
I am seriously considering travelling alone to the Big Island then making my way to Seoul via HNL. I've only jumpseated internationally once (HNL-KIX, but don't remember much about it.) Here are my questions:
Would I have same travelling privileges coming out of Korea, namely ability to carry full size liquids while in uniform?
Considering how high tech Korea is, do I need to bring wall plug converters of my own or do the hotels over there have that taken care of? Speaking of hotels, any decent deals?
I really would like to do the DMZ tour, but don't know how feasible this is. I've googled and apparently I can buy tickets through the USO there, but they sell out fast and I honestly don't even know if/how to call the number in Korea using my cell phone to book the tix. Am worried I will not be able to get tix on such short notice if I wait to call after I've landed in the country. Any advice on this at all?
I would appreciate any other tips on travelling there.
