Default Wife Takes Controls After Husband Can't

This is pretty scary. And good job to the Great Lakes pilot.

From MSNBC:

A woman took over the controls of a small airplane when her pilot-husband started having trouble breathing and speaking on a flight from California to Colorado, authorities said.

Ground controllers in Colorado and a Great Lakes Airlines pilot in another plane helped her guide the smaller craft.

Wow! A Great Lakes pilot helps a woman (non-pilot) land a Cirrus SR22 after her husband-pilot becomes incapacitated.

Another check in the column to raise the retirement age to 69.

Semantics, but she didn't land, she used the AP to descend where her husband became lucid again, then in his bright post-hypoxic state wanted to continue (back up at 17000) to his destination before ATC convinced him otherwise.

Still, bravo to the GLA pilot, controller, and her for getting that thing down lower.

But will he be raked over the coals, like the Southwest crew?
