State Sen. Dan Patrick (R) ultimately gave in and withdrew the bill, but only after insisting that he would not "cave" to "heavy handed threats by the federal government."
Bold leadership there...

TSA needs to just go away. I don't feel any safer since the organization has been created. Overall it just adds more costs to the flying public. Much of the costs with TSA could have been better used securing the borders where the terrorist entered the country in the first place.
Just my 2 cents.

Hmm, and just this morning, in Texas, a TSA agent delayed my flight after inspecting the aircraft and citing a reg I, my dispatch supervisor, mx control sup, and operations duty manager had never heard of. The "discrepancy" she found meant that a person with a TSA prohibited item could have access to a restricted area of the aircraft. When asked how a pax could get the prohibited item through a checkpoint manned by diligent TSA personnel, she began quoting lines from South Park, "Derr, let's see: Twelve people... plus... times... divided... two hours domestic, three hours international."

Sounds like the bill was dropped and its now dead. Hope this comes back in one form or another.

TSA will never be beneficial for commercial aviation, but Id love to hear otherwise...

I don't know what you're talking about! I felt much safer after the TSA patted down a 5 year old as I was going through security. What a F'n joke...shut down the TSA!

Default Dewhurst

I'm in Canada and please permit me to comment on this latest outrage perpetrated by Washington. Dewhurst may be the richest person in politics in Texas but people need to look into his sympathy to neo-Nazi causes a few decades ago. In Dewhurst we basically have a man who helped neo-nazis, as well as Nazi torture experts, overthrow legitimate governments in the 70′s now helping the Obama administration overthrow America in 2011, by protecting an army of TSA thugs who are being used to completely demolish constitutional rights. Remember Klaus Barbie "the Butcher of Lyon"?

In any case whether you choose to look into this the fact remains is that America has suddenly become a 'show me your papers' fascist dictatorship. From where I sit I cannot believe that 130 state representatives, read...REPRESENTATIVES unanimously voted for an end to TSA thugery and molestation but Dewhurst, as Obama's representative is able to circumvent the wishes of the constituents. In my opinion, as an American citizen, this makes Dewhurst not only unfit to hold the office he is in but many right thinking citizens would correctly label him as a traitor.

I simply cannot understand why the ALPA org. doesn't call the DOJ bluff and go on strike and stop flying in Texas until the TSA is removed. That is what REAL patriotic Americans would do. If ever there was a time that all good citizens should come to the aid of their country it is right now. This phony war on terrorism is responsible for more and more forfeiture or the rights and freedoms that made this country. If you pilots down there don't take action and walk off the job now then all is lost and believe me as someone well versed in how dictators like Stalin and Hitler came to power, you will not want to live in America going forward.

Dylan just had his 70th birthday and I can't help but remember the words of one of his famous songs.....

"Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'."

THE LINE IT IS DRAWN, THE CURSE IT IS CAST

Dewhurst MUST be run out of Texas for this crime against Texans

Wow ! 3 posts and your off to a good start here at APC
First off if there were to be any changes made to the TSA it schould have been done at the inception and since it was not ,all I see is an uphill battle with little to no progress and besides most pax are comfortable with the way things are according to a 'poll'that was done .
Nothing is going to change till someone with guts comes in and cleans house so to speak.
As far as your assertion of a phony war on terror is concerned , I,d say the graves registration office would disagree with that considering the losses we have incurred over the last 10 years.
Considering the laws in regards to speech that Canada has passed I would'nt be too quick to throw stones at the U.S
We still have checks and balances in this country .

Welcome to APC .
