Senority is everything, finish school online from your crashpad while you sit reserve. One year can be the difference between sucess and failure in this industry. But make sure you finish school if you ever want out of a regional.

If the answers to both of these questions are "yes", then I would say do it. Seniority is everything in this industry. However, college is a life of a lot of fun and little to no responsibility... are you sure you want to leave that?

And before get beat up by others for saying this... Yes I have a degree (two actually).

I agree with both of these. If you're confident that you can finish online, get the regional job and get better seniority. Ask yourself; Would you rather finish college first and get on with a regional after a year's worth of hiring has gone by, thus reducing your QOL? Or would you rather be more senior and have better QOL....and still have your degree?

No-brainer. If you know you can and will finish online, get the regional job and get your seniority number. Regional jobs, especially for new-hires are crappy and you'll need/want all the QOL you can get.

BTW; You should have titled this thread "Regional AND College", it doesn't have to be "Regional versus College"

How about this.

Get your seniority number then take a nice 12 month leave of absence or whatever time you need. Far fetched, yes, but hey what the heck maybe it could work. Most likely it won't work but why not give it a shot.

But either way make sure you get that degree. I fly with numerous captains that did not go to college and they can't leave as a result to move onto bigger and better things.

Is it a better move to take a job with a regional build time and finish college on-line, or finish college and wait the extra year to try and get picked up after graduation?
Finsh college and when your done find a career that you can fall back on and make money while flying. The salary you get from an airline is enough to buy cat food and keep the lights on. So make sure you position yourself well in both good times and in bad. Fly safe and enjoy!

Or take the inevitable furlough, bypass recall as required to get your degree, and then return to regional long enough for currency/experience to move on, with better seniority.

The danger is, with money(however little) and a job, the temptation to avoid going back to finish can get to be too much.

Finish college.

P.S. It's "not TOO distant future"

I left school with one year left to "live the dream" and it was the dumbest thing I ever did!!!!!! Its a huge pain in the a$$ to try to finish your last few credits through correspondence or online in order to graduate!

FINISH SCHOOL

The seniority argument is just that.... When your company goes BK, what is your seniority now? When you move to a bigger and better airline, what is your seniority then?

Don't play that game.

FINISH SCHOOL
