My friend, your ignorance has blinded your ability to show compassion towards things in life you don't understand! Your mindset is that of a "FOOL"... Always remember "with age comes wisdom"!

Amen to that.

I'm happy to hear about your friend on the road to recovery though, good for him.

This pilot had it in his mind that he could land on the water like "Flying Wild Alaska." To me it sounds like he convinced himself it was a good idea and went about lying to ATC to do it.

I hope for his sake it was a medical condition. Brain tumors cause the mind to do all kind of crazy things.

You believe he was just lying and wanted to do it.

Keep in mind there are also a lot of immature flame baiters on here as well as professionals. IMHO, professionals want to know the facts before deciding on a persons guilt.
I'm not an expert on the brain, but I would be hard-pressed to believe that a brain tumor could so destroy a person's concept of right and wrong.

Point in case, your friend never taxied down the interstate because his FO knocked some sense into him. This guy had the controller explaining to him why he could not proceed with his request, and he tried to find a way around it.

If your logic in defending this guy is sound, how many criminals steal, kill, rape, and/or molest on the basis of a brain-tumor induced impairment? ?

It's a stretch to excuse this guy, that's really all I'm saying.

So how many folks here have flown that plane? N132ND... formerly known as SIOUX 132.

at first i couldn't believe what I was hearing, but now I am inclined to believe that the guy was having some kind of neurological indcident. Bad timing --yes, but it would at least explain this to some degree.

Whatever the cause of his actions, he should not be flying airplanes.
