Why aren't more women airline pilots?

I wasn't aware that working at an FBO, being divorced or being 40-50 years old causes poor hygiene?
Of which I only qualify for the 40-50 year old portion of your comment. But I will immediately check my hygiene just in case.
Now I will say this. I was a 777 instructor at UAL for almost 7 years and the above comment on women pilots not being very good is so far off the base that it didn't qualify for a proper response from me. Anytime I ever hear somebody making a blanket statement about this group or that group are lousy pilots my immediate thought is "what's this guys problem?"
Weak pilots are generally the ones trying to disparage and group other pilots. The same ones BTW who are nervous Nellies and control freaks.

My wife (a few thousand hours of 707 time, a pile of instructing hours, etc.) decided she did not want to pursue an airline career. She chose instead to have a houseful of kids and stay at home and be a mommy.
I know it may sound weird but sometimes it simply comes down to a personal choice to forgo the glamorous life that is the airline pilot and just do something else.
I asked if I could trade places with her and she told me 'NO!'

The simple answer that no one likes to hear: Most of them are not good at it.
I use to have an optimistic personality that just about anybody can become an airline pilot if they try hard enough.
Keyword there is try.
I worked with female students in the past as an instructor. They are usually my most weakest students. I say weak, because they don't take initiative. They expect others to make a decision for them. And most of all they usually lack confidence in themselves.
There are certain qualties that most pilots usually have and it serves them well. Confidence and Independence. These two qualities are hard to cultivate in women pilots for reasons I don't know.
Other than that I have met women pilots that are good at what they do, there's just not that many of them.
