Default 1975 Da Nang evac gone wrong .

World Airways was supposed to pick up women and children from Da Nang- Saigon unfortunately it did'nt turn out that way.
Don't know if I would have even attempted this landing given the situation and the video speaks for itself.

It would be interesting to see that crew get together again, although I'm sure Daly is gone by now. They left out the shot of the leg hanging out of the main wheel well. Says a lot for the 72.

This was the last flight - To my knowledge there were many before this last flight that indeed did pick up many woman and children. In total over 3000 orphans were flown out in the last few weeks and adopted throughout the world. I'm proud to be flying with a company that has such a legacy. Certainly not a "normal" day in aviation - but Mr. Daly had a lot of his own workers on the ground in DaNang and wanted to get out as many as he could. I hope those looking at this footage will remember the times and not judge too harshly. By the way a few years ago some of those that were flown out - were flown back to Vietnam for a reunion.

Absolutely amazing story and video! Kudos to the aircrew and to Mr. Daly for risking everything for people who had nothing.

How many airline presidents like Daly are in the whole world today?

You're kidding, right?

The real question is how many people would go in harms way to help others (even if there is a minuscule profit to be had)?

I remember being told this story by a TransAm skipper some years ago and was also amazed at those who took a risk for people they did'nt even know and it just goes to show that there are people who will step up to the plate .
Anyone know if a book was ever written about this ?
