I'm the guy who moved the thread. It's not about major airlines, and major airline pilots are perfectly capable of coming here to comment.

As to Social Security, when ATC guys retire under "FERS" (not the Civil Service Retirement System), they get quasi SS payments until they are actually eligible for SS.

The mold has already been broken. By the way, max age for ATC is still 56. How would you like to have 65+ year old ATC guys working?
