Flying Alaska

Jeesh. And that's about the nicest thing I can say. Jeesh.
I loved the cargo drop to allow for a shorter ground roll. And then the diversion to tuluksak, where there just happens to be a crashed airplane. And the sunglasses! Gotta love the sunglasses on grey, dreary overcast days! Yes, the 207 can be IFR. No, with 1200 pounds you'll have like no fuel. At least with my chubby butt in the front seat! Marshalling in Unalakleet? Never saw that before! He runs an entire airline out of the notepad in his pocket? Man... that's quite a notepad. The fuel thing in Barrow was spot on, but it was avgas not jeta that was contaminated when I went through. I loved the ifr request after minutes of being on top, but that was probably just editing. Right?
The coolest thing about flying up here is really the people, the scenery, the careful planning around possible risks. We see and do things on a daily basis that most pilots can't imagine.
Our group watching the show was really excited to see if they were gonna showcase these things, and was sadly reminded that this show is created to pull ratings from the masses and money from sponsors. Drama is critical to pull these numbers. So be it. The planes are cool, right? The 207 going overhead with a turbine soundbite? Good stuff!

Not with pax on board, at least at my company. Cargo, you could be IFR all day long, same with a part 91 leg.
Someone mentioned some of the reasons why earlier, I think for us all three applied: not on the insurance, no autopilot, and no op spec saying we could. If I remember right we didn't carry pax IFR in the caravan either.

Here is the Marshaller / Tweto daughter on a game show, which explains probably how they got the show.

I never knew Ariel was such a little networker. For being from such a small village she has certainly gotten out there.
I like her, shes awkwardly cute. Would I want to marry or even date her...nope. She would be fun to drink with if you had a long layover in Unalakleet. Shes not lacking in personality.

I just caught this week's show which was dedicated to the Beech 02 F/O Erik Rose. My God he couldn't have been 28 years old, tailwinds.
Ariel is funny, she's actually been to Hollywood and has appeared in Hannah Montana, etc.

Discovery Channel website has a bit more about him: 37 years old with a very young daughter. God bless them.
Heres to "blowing it up" for you Erik.
