I have been using it since the iPad II came out and I LOVE IT. Won't leave home without it. It's accuracy is VERY good with just the 3G, but maybe that depends on what you're flying. I never have any trouble getting a signal. I have an external GPS that I used for awhile but when I realized it was working just as well without it, I stopped bringing all the extra junk.
We have the Stratus too and love the free ADS-B weather.
I use Foreflight and Jeppview. Jepp sucks but we use the plates where I work, but Foreflight I use for everything else. You can't beat the georeference during taxi for situational awareness and on approaches. The map lets you do all kinds of really helpful and cool things. You can type in routes that include SID, STARS, airways, anything, and it pops up. I can't say enough good things about this product. I wish they could incorporate Jepps but they told me at Oshkosh a few years back that Jepp wouldn't work with them. Too bad for Jepp because Jeppview is HORRIBLE.

I use it quite a bit for SA when working around busy airspace or SUAS. I flight plan with it and file with it a majority of the time (I am usually in the hotel or the FBO) so I have wi-fi (I let my cell usage expire). Still have ForeFlight on the iPhone if I need to do something about from the wireless.
Though I'll disagree with you on the need to have Jepps dhc8fo
I like the gov't charts!

Seems to cover a lot of what I was going to tell you but with better detail.
